"Tall and tan and young and lovely...

the girl from Ipanema goes walking and when she passes, each one she passes goes a-a-a-ah. When she walks she's like a samba that, swings so cool and sways so gentle, that when she passes each one she passes goes "a-a-ah!"

Why do I have a picture of the Brazilian lovely, Giselle Bundchen on my blog, while quoting The Girl from Ipanema lyrics? It's really quite simple. This weekend is the 50th year celebration of the Bossa Nova. The samba swing that Antonio Carlos Jobim so eloquently refered to when he wrote the famous Bossa Nova song above.

This weekend while you're enjoying the last hoorah of summer, tune your dial way over to the left (so properly placed) and find your local classical jazz station and enjoy a little Bossa Nova, my friends. If you happen to indulge in satellite radio, Pure Jazz 72 on Sirius is playing Bossa Nova all weekend. Oooh la, la!

p.s. Sorry, Giselle cannot be purchased via Etsy.

Such beautiful long legs! Thanks for the fun history. Giselle might not be on ETSY, but the Bossa Nova is!

Blame it on the Bossa Nova purse

(verif. word is gzhhrilm -- sounds Giselleish)

Hi Kirsten,
That satchel/handbag is coo-el.

How was the concert last night? Was that at the Gorge at George, perhaps? Old memories from when I lived on that side of the world.

If you played a musical instrument, I'm sure you studied Stan Getz and his famous Girl from Ipanema saxophone. Fabulousamba.

Love that bossa nova. My dad was a huge jazz fan and had a number of bossa nova albums.

I have a nice CD of Charlie Byrd playing girl from Ipanema on guitar. And I don't think there was a person who played sax smoother and breathier than Stan Getz.

Nice tribute.

PS Giselle ain't bad either.

Hi Craig,
I knew both you and Kirsten would enjoy today's musical tribute post.

Yes. Stan Getz on Saxophone...amazing. No question or argument there.

Makes me want to go to Brazil. It's on the list. Maybe next year. :-)

Sheryl Crow was amazing -- a great outdoor venue at a really fun hotel/brewpub. I've been to George -- is that place the coolest or what? Oh, but right now I'm ready to go to Brazil!

Next out-of-country trip I think will be to South America. Argentina, Brazil, Chile. The usual suspects.

Wanna go? I'm wondering how can we turn this into an erotica writer's field trip and write it off on our taxes.

Wanna go? I'm gone!

Maybe in 18 months from now, you and I will be talking bossa nova more seriously, KM.

Hope you're having a rockin' weekend, chica.
